A Closer Look: Graham Ike
The 6'9 post force is scheduled to visit Providence in mid-April. He would be a massive addition for Kim English and his staff.
When Graham Ike was healthy there wasn’t a player in the country who had more post touches.
The powerful, 6’9, 255 pound left hander averaged 19.5 points and 9.6 rebounds during the 2021-22 campaign at Wyoming. Ike averaged 14.1 post possessions per game, which marked the highest total in the country by a pretty wide margin. To put that number in perspective, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, Purdue’s Zach Edey, and Trayce Jackson-Davis of Indiana each averaged about seven post possessions per game that season. Nate Watson was at 6.5.
Ike certainly made the most of those opportunities, scoring 12.4 points in the paint per game (99th percentile nationally). He drew 7.0 fouls per game (100th percentile) and scored 3.4 second chance points (94th) in leading Wyoming to a 25-9 mark — a team that represented the Mountain West Conference in the NCAA Tournament (they lost to Indiana in their first game).
Ike, a former AAU teammate of current Friar Devin Carter from when he lived in Colorado early in his high school career, announced his intention to transfer this spring, and is set to visit Providence in two weeks. The Friars would become a punishing interior team if they could find a way to add Ike to Bryce Hopkins and George Mason transfer Josh Oduro.
