A Look at Kris Dunn, Bryce Cotton, David Duke Jr. and Other Friars in the Pro Ranks
After a short stint in Portland last season, Kris Dunn is playing for the Washington Wizards’ G League affiliate — the Capital City Go-Go. Dunn has been very efficient this season, putting up 13.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game, while shooting 41% from three point range. He is doing all of this in just over 25 minutes per game.
A seemingly endless string of injuries have plagued Dunn throughout his career. Last season in Portland he averaged 7.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists a game in 24 minutes a night.
Bryce Cotton continues to shine in Australia. The three-time NBL scoring champion and MVP is leading the league in scoring once again. His 23.4 points per game is just shy of his career high in Australia (23.5) and Cotton is also averaging 4.6 assist and 4.4 rebounds, while hitting 94% at the free throw line and 37% from deep.
Ben Bentil continues to put up numbers overseas — 12.8 points and 3.8 rebounds for Crvena evezda mts in the Adriatic League. Bentil, who is shooting 43% from three and 100% at the free throw line through 11 games, has carved out a very good career for himself in Europe. He is currently teammates with former URI rival Hassan Martin.
AJ Reeves is averaging 5.6 points and shooting 46% from three for the Maine Celtics.
His classmate, David Duke, is scorching for the Long Island Nets. Duke is averaging 24.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He has had scoring outputs of 23, 28, and 30 over his past five games. Duke scored 10 points, with five assists, in his NBA debut this season against Dallas early this year.
Justin Minaya is with the G League’s Mexico City Capitanes. He is averaging 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds a game, and recently had a 17/4/4 effort in which he made 5-7 from three.
Nate Watson is shooting 74% from ERA Nymburk in Basketball Champions League in the Czech Republic. Watson is averaging 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds a game.
Al Durham is playing alongside many familiar faces with Lavrio in Greece. His team’s leading scorer is UConn’s RJ Cole. Durham also teams up with Kansas grad Remy Martin and Texas A&M’s Savion Flagg, who played against PC in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. He also plays with former URI big man Cyril Langevine and Marquette shot blocker Kur Kuath. Durham is scoring 5.8 points per game, and is struggling to find his normal shooting stroke early. Lavrio is a club that also had Alpha Diallo and Paschal Chukwu in recent seasons.
Noah Horchler is scoring 7.7 points with 5.2 rebounds, while shooting 35% in Greece.
Diallo looks to have a long European career ahead of him. He is averaging 8.7 points and 3.9 rebounds for Monaco. Diallo showed an improved jumper last season, making 43%, but his shooting numbers from distance are down so far this year.
Maliek White is averaging 5.8 points, 2.8 assists for Neptunas in Lithuania, while Kalif Young has averages of 8.6 points, 5.8 rebounds for Medi Bayreuth in Germany’s top league.
