Al Durham's Career High at Northwestern (video)
Durham scored a career high 24 points, and made a pair of huge shots to lead Indiana to a double overtime win at Northwestern.
Al Durham didn’t just set a career high in scoring on Feb. 10 at Northwestern, he delivered in the clutch.
Indiana was playing uphill all night against a desperate Northwestern team, losers of nine straight heading into this one. The Hoosiers trailed by seven points with just over two minutes left in regulation when Durham went on a personal 7-0 run to tie the game. The spurt was capped when the lefty dropped a right handed floater with 25 seconds left to tie the game.
Durham bailed out Indiana once again in overtime — knocking down a top-of-the-key jumper after drawing a defender with a dribble to tie it at 66 with 1.5 seconds left in overtime.
In double OT Durham went to the free throw line with Indiana up at point and 5.7 on the clock. He sunk both free throws to put Indiana up three. Northwestern couldn’t convert on the other end, and Durham’s Hoosiers stole a victory.
Durham finished with 24 points on 5-12 shooting from the field, 3-5 from 3-point range, and 11-12 at the free throw line. He played off of the ball for a majority of this game, but as you’ll see in upcoming videos, Durham spent a solid portion of this year bringing the ball up and setting Indiana into its offense.
Another thing you’ll notice is the level of comfort he has using his right hand, both in finishing and passing. Durham finishes the righty floater late against Northwestern, but he also finishes layups well with his right (at times through contact).
This the latest in a series of articles in which Friarbasketball’s Kevin Farrahar shares what he saw from watching full games of Indiana transfer Al Durham. Durham is available this season for the Friars and has a year of eligibility remaining. Highlights will be included in each of these articles.
