Clifton Moore Goes for Career Highs in Points and Assists, Adds 5 Blocks, vs. Holy Cross in December

For those of you who began following this site once the regular season started, throughout last summer we had a series of videos that showed the games of Al Durham and Justin Minaya after they signed with Providence. The intent was to get Friar fans familiar with the play of the incoming transfers by showing video of their previous stints at Indiana and South Carolina.

I plan on doing the same throughout this spring and summer with PC’s latest signees.

Here’s the disclaimer I’ll add to each of these articles throughout the offseason: These videos are not meant to be purely highlights. They will certainly highlight what each of these players does well, but I will try to include every possession I watch to balance the excitement of a signing, while setting realistic expectations.

In other words, you’ll see the good, bad, and everything in-between.

Clifton Moore played one of the most complete games of his career to date when La Salle met Holy Cross on Dec. 4.

La Salle was in desperate need of a win heading into this one. They split their first four games of the season (including overtime losses to Sacred Heart and Delaware), then fell to Big 5 foes Temple (73-57) and Villanova (72-46) before hosting struggling Holy Cross.

Moore closed this game with career highs in points (15) and assists (4), while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking five shots. Fifteen points wouldn’t stay a career high for long. By month’s end, Moore went for 26 points at Fordham and 21 versus VCU to kick off a stretch of 14 consecutive games in double figures. He scored more than 15 points in nine of those 14 contests.

From December on, Moore became a very consistent scoring presence for the Explorers. They handled Holy Cross, 84-65, in this one, with Moore obviously playing a big role on both sides of the ball.

He passes the ball well from the post in this game, and does a lot of damage when posting up.

The win was the first of three straight for La Salle, who went on to beat Fairleigh Dickinson and Penn before starting league play.
