Clifton Moore Puts Up 19 Points, 12 Boards Against Richmond

For those of you who began following this site once the regular season started, throughout last summer we had a series of videos that showed the games of Al Durham and Justin Minaya after they signed with Providence. The intent was to get Friar fans familiar with the play of the incoming transfers by showing video of their previous stints at Indiana and South Carolina.

I plan on doing the same throughout this spring and summer with PC’s latest signees.

Here’s the disclaimer I’ll add to each of these articles throughout the offseason: These videos are not meant to be purely highlights. They will certainly highlight what each of these players does well, but I will try to include every possession I watch to balance the excitement of a signing, while setting realistic expectations.

In other words, you’ll see the good, bad, and everything in-between.

Clifton Moore played well in each of La Salle’s games against Richmond last season. As we highlighted here previously, Moore went for 17 points and three blocked shots in a closer-than-the-final-score-would-indicate road loss at Richmond.

In La Salle’s 64-56 home loss to Richmond on Jan. 22, Moore went for 19 points and 12 rebounds on 9-12 shooting from the field.

This game marked Moore’s fourth career double double at the time, all coming in this span of five games. He had truly turned a corner at this point of the season. This was his sixth straight game scoring in double figures — a streak that would eventually be extended to 14 consecutive contests.

La Salle trailed 31-29 at halftime, and kept this one relatively close throughout the second half, but eventually would never make this a one possession game.

Moore went to the free throw line once (1-2), did not attempt a 3-pointer, and had a steal and two blocks in 35 minutes of action.

In this game, Moore did much of his damage on the block, but also faced up and took defenders off the dribble, and scored when rolling to the rim. Once again, we saw him pass very well out of the post.

This is a skilled big man who played two very solid games against an NCAA Tournament team in Richmond.
