Friar Basketball Newsletter: A Candid AJ Reeves Reflects on His Providence Career, Devin Carter Leads the Way vs. FSU, Looking Back at a Statement Win over Wisconsin
In our second post-season interview with a member of the 2021-22 Friars, Billy Ricci and I spoke at length with AJ Reeves about his career and the outstanding season that closed out his Friar tenure. AJ was unbelievably candid in this hour-plus podcast, and provided all sorts of great insight on his personal journey, the last four years of PC basketball, the highs of this past season, and so much more. The podcast is available here.
The next podcast will feature Al Durham and should be out next week.
Speaking of last season, we knew Providence was on to something when they went to the Kohl Center in Madison and knocked off Wisconsin in the third game of the year. In this week’s “Season in Review” article, Friar Basketball takes a look back at how the Wisconsin win unfolded, what it meant to Providence’s NCAA Tournament resume, and how it somehow provided fuel to the Friar doubters later in the year. Highlights from this win (and a victory over New Hampshire later that week) are included here.
Our latest look at an incoming transfer features a six-minute clip from when Devin Carter led South Carolina with 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench against Florida State. Carter struggled early in this one, but attacked the rim with aggression in providing life back into his club. As you’ll see, Carter made some huge plays in the second half of this one-point victory.
Lastly, our look across the Big East includes how the league has five of CBS Sports’ top 25 transfers incoming this year, and two teams ranked in Gary Parrish’s top 25 for next season. You can also find an article on Earl Grant’s rebuilding project at Boston College, see highlights of a recent Devin Carter workout, read more about a pair of combo guards Providence is recruiting, and more.
We hope you enjoy this week’s content and look forward to tracking recruiting news as it begins to pick up this summer.
