Friar Basketball Newsletter: Upcoming Podcast Series on the 2014 Friars, Video of Noah Locke's All-Around Game in the ACC Tourney, Winning on the Road in Hartford, and the Birth of "Be Them Dudes"
We are very excited to announce that for the second consecutive year Friar Basketball is partnering with Billy Ricci of The Friar Podcast to bring Providence fans a multi-part podcast series — this time on the 2013-14 Friars. This was the team that won the Big East Tournament, helped lead Providence back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in ten years, and set the tone for what the Ed Cooley era would become at Providence.
We are currently in the midst of conducting interviews, and we are aiming to have the first episode available in October.
In this week’s newsletter, we continue our “Season in Review” series with a look back on Providence taking out UConn in the Big East opener at Hartford, and the birth of “Be Them Dudes” in a December victory over Seton Hall. This article include videos of four Friar wins in December.
You will also find highlights and a summary of when Noah Locke and Louisville took out Georgia Tech in the 2022 ACC Tournament. Locke played perhaps his most well-rounded game of the season in going for 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the victory.
Our News and Notes column is available for subscribers and looks into the impressive roster overhaul at UMass this offseason, how Providence ranks in terms of Big East conference wins since realignment in 2013, and has details on just how impressively Jared Bynum shot the ball from beyond the 3-point arc last season. As Bynum’s shot chart shows, there really wasn’t a spot from 3-point range in which he didn’t shoot it well last year. This article includes plenty of other information as well.
