Friar Guard Alyn Breed Suspended from Team Following Domestic, Firearm Charges
Providence guard Alyn Breed was suspended from the team on Saturday night after being charged with “numerous” firearm and domestic offenses over the weekend.
Providence College released the following statement on the matter on Saturday night:
“It was announced today (April 1, 2023) by the Providence Police Department that Providence College student-athlete Alyn Breed was charged with several crimes for actions that occurred off campus on Saturday, April 1. As a result of these charges, athletic director Steve Napolillo and head coach Kim English have determined that Breed is suspended from the men's basketball team and will not be allowed to participate in any other athletic department-related activities. The College will follow its student-conduct disciplinary process regarding this matter. At this time, there will not be any further comment.”
Breed, who planned to return to PC for his senior year under new head coach Kim English, is no longer listed on the team’s website. The 6’3 guard from Powder Springs, GA averaged 4.8 points per game as a junior, and started 30 games at Providence during his career.
