Garwey Dual the Latest Prime Time Commit to Pledge to Cooley, Friars Following a Memorable Season
Three months ago, you would have been hard-pressed to find a basketball fan outside of Houston and Indianapolis familiar with the game of Garwey Dual.
The 6’5 point guard out of Carmel High School in Indiana averaged a shade under six points per game after transferring in from George Bush High School in Houston for his junior year.
His national profile exploded over the past two months, however, with Dual morphing from unknown prospect to a top 100 prospect by the three biggest national recruiting services in the country. In fact, he’s been so good playing for George Hill All-Indy this spring that On3.com has him ranked as their 44th ranked player in the class of 2023.
After visiting Providence last week, Dual announced on Sunday that he had committed to the Friars.
There simply aren’t many 6’5 prospects with his upside as a defender and quickness with the ball in his hands. Dual isn’t known as much of a shooter, but according to the Indianapolis Star, he shot 39% from deep on limited attempts (28) last season at Carmel.
