Highlights: Clifton Moore vs. Two-time A10 Defensive Player of the Year Osun Osunniyi

1

St. Bonaventure was the Atlantic-10 favorite headed into the 2021-22 season, thanks in large part to big man Osun Osunniyi.

Osunniyi (who is now at Iowa State) was an underrated recruit in high school before sprouting to 6’10 and spending a prep year at Putnam Science Academy. He became one of the A-10’s best defenders almost immediately upon stepping foot on campus, being named to the league’s All-Defensive team four times and winning Defensive Player of the Year twice.

Osunniyi and Clifton Moore were two of the best big men in the league last season, and each of them played well when they met last January. Osunniyi finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Moore scored 17 points and grabbed 10 boards in an 80-76 overtime victory for the Bonnies over Moore and La Salle.

This marked the third straight game in which Moore scored in double figures. He had 26 against Fordham, 21 versus VCU, and would go on to score in double figures in the 11 games that followed the St. Bonaventure loss.

Highlights of Moore’s game against the Bonnies can be seen above. Unlike videos from earlier this summer, this video does not show every possession — only his best from this game.
