As noted here over the past month, Ryan Mela and his Newman School team are off to a terrific start to the 2023-24 season. Mela, a Providence commit in the class of 2024, is putting up numbers across the board — as he did in this game against Will Riley and The Phelps School earlier this month.
Riley put perhaps the best performance of anyone at the Zero Gravity Prep Classic, as the top 30 national wing went for 48 points on 19-37 shooting from the field in a victory over Newman.
Mela was great in that game as well, finishing with 28 points on a number of tough finishes, while adding four steals, three assists, and 12 rebounds. Mela was an efficient 10-16 from the floor and went 8-11 at the free throw line.
Here are highlights of Mela from this one.
