Live from Barrington, RI: Jaylen Harrell scores 29 for CATS Academy

Playing 15 minutes from where he’ll call home next season, Jaylen Harrell took to the floor against St. Andrew’s in Barrington, RI and simply did what he had to for CATS Academy to walk away with an 81-69 victory on Wednesday night.

I (unofficially) had the 2025 Providence commit down for 29 points and five assists in a game in which CATS had to withstand a spirited comeback from coach Mike Hart’s club.

The Boston native is known to many in Friartown as a shooter, but he’s a solid passer who is quite willing to play bully ball if the situation calls for it — as it did on Wednesday.

Just after St. Andrew’s started to surge in the second half, Harrell went to work inside and also found teammates for critical threes to blow the game open late.

Harrell attempted a few shots from beyond the arc, but did virtually all of his work from 18 feet and in (as you’ll see in the video below). I had him down for 20 of his 29 points in the second half.
