For those of you who began following this site once the regular season started, throughout last summer we had a series of videos that showed the games of Al Durham and Justin Minaya after they signed with Providence. The intent was to get Friar fans familiar with the play of the incoming transfers by showing video of their previous stints at Indiana and South Carolina.
I plan on doing the same throughout this spring and summer with PC’s latest signees.
Here’s the disclaimer I’ll add to each of these articles throughout the offseason: These videos are not meant to be purely highlights. They will certainly highlight what each of these players does well, but I will try to include every possession I watch to balance the excitement of a signing, while setting realistic expectations.
In other words, you’ll see the good, bad, and everything in-between.
Noah Locke likely wishes he could always play Texas A&M.
After scoring a career-high 27 points against the Aggies as a freshman, Locke was back at it a year later. As a sophomore, Locke went on the road to score 21 more against A&M (on 8-17 shooting from the field and 5-10 from deep) in a 78-61 victory for Florida.
While the Gators pulled away in the second half, this was a 37-34 game at halftime. Locke made four of his 3-pointers in the opening half.
His 21 point performance kicked off an eight-game stretch in which he scored in double figures on six occasions. He put up 19 the next time out against Vanderbilt (on 6-8 from 3), and closed the regular season with 15 points at Tennessee, 17 points at Georgia, and 14 at home against Kentucky.
All five of his makes from beyond the arc in this one came from catch and shoot attempts, but he did put the ball on the deck and made two jumpers after a bounce or two. We also see a bit of a floater game.
