Seven Providence Legends to Headline the Friar Legacy Coaches Round Table on July 28
Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime event. The Providence College Athletic Department announced last week that the school, in collaboration with the Friends of Friar Basketball, will host what they are calling a “Friar Legacy Coaches Roundtable” on July 28.
The panel is outstanding: Ed Cooley, Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan, Rick Barnes, Pete Gillen, and Tim Welsh — and it will be hosted by Doris Burke. The group will discuss their careers and the positive impact Providence has had on them.
The afternoon will kick off with a welcome reception from 3:00-4:00pm in the Ruane Friar Development Center. During this time fans will have an opportunity to tour the Calabria Hall of Fame and meet with Friar legends, including those from the 1987 Final Four team and the 1997 Elite Eight squad. The roundtable discussion will follow from 4:00-5:30pm.
Tickets for the event are $500 and can be purchased by contacting Harold Starks (HStarks@providence.edu or by calling 401-865-2860). RSVPs are due by July 25.
Proceeds will help the Friends of Friar Basketball and their goals of “assisting former Friar basketball players, enriching the community, and aiding with Name, Image and Likeness funding.”
