Three Mass Rivals Prospects Receive Providence Offers at Late Night Madness
While this weekend served as a celebration of the return of college basketball in Providence, Ed Cooley and his staff put work in recruiting-wise as well.
Three Massachusetts-based preps were offered by PC’s coaching staff over the weekend — one in the class of 2024, and two in 2025.
Here’s a rundown:
Bryce Dortch, Brimmer and May: Business is picking up for the 6’9 Dortch, a versatile defender in the class of 2024 (current junior). In the past month, he has received scholarship offers from Marquette, Virginia Tech, Temple, and Rutgers. Providence offered this weekend after assistant coach Brian Blaney was on campus last week. Also on Brimmer’s campus this week for Dortch were Michigan State, VCU, Boston College, and St. Bonaventure, according to Andrew Slater. The top 150 prospect has a busy fall ahead, including a visit to Marquette.
Sebastian Wilkins, Lawrence Academy: The 6’8 Wilkins was one of a handful of young prospects in New England I was told to keep an eye on last May, and the class of 2025 (current sophomore) wing received a lot of good press in the weeks and months that followed. Rutgers was the first Division 1 school to offer him a scholarship, doing so on Sept. 10, with Providence following suit three weeks later. Wilkins is a 15 year old who played up on Mass Rivals’ U17 team that took home an Adidas title in California in July. Wilkins plays at the same Massachusetts prep school that produced Shabazz Napier. His highlights show a player with the size and skill that are well beyond his years.
Isaiah Langham, Belmont Hill: The 6’4 Langham, a member of the class of 2025 (current sophomore), is a strong-bodied guard who gets to the rim with consistency, according to a variety of reports on him this spring and summer. In his highlights, Langham finishes well with either hand — impressive for such a young player. Providence is his first Division 1 offer.
