Al Durham played big at Wisconsin last year
Durham logged 49 minutes in a double overtime thriller.
Wisconsin had seemingly everything in its favor when Indiana visited last January.
They were ranked eighth in the country, had won six of their last seven games, and they had dominated Indiana for the longest time at the Kohl Center — having won 17 straight games over the Hoosiers there.
Yet, they needed a pair of clutch shots from D'Mitrik Trice to walk away with an 80-73 double overtime victory on this night.
The first came with just over 20 seconds left, when Trice hit a floater to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The second was on a jumper with under ten seconds remaining in overtime to tie the game once again. Indiana took the lead late in overtime after Al Durham completed a three point play (his third of the game) with 27 seconds left.
Wisconsin then pulled away in double overtime for the victory.
Indiana was led by star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists, while Durham did a bit of everything — 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, a steal, and a block.
Both Jackson-Davis and Durham played 49 minutes in the loss.
In the three minute clip below you’ll see the versatility of Durham’s game. He got his big men easy looks near the bucket, finished a trio of tough and-1s (including one with his right hand), spotted up from three on a nice find from Jackson-Davis, hit a tough fadeaway off the bounce late in the shot clock, swooped to the hole for a right-handed layup, and grabbed a tough rebound in traffic.
Durham shot 6-10 from the field, 1-3 from deep, and 2-3 at the free throw line.
What continually shows up when watching Durham is the maturity he brings to the floor, poise that will really benefit Providence this season.
