Friar Basketball Newsletter: Providence Drops a Pair at Mohegan Sun... The First Episode of the 2013-14 Podcast Series is Out
Providence’s return to Mohegan Sun this weekend wasn’t quite what Friartown was hoping for, not after the Friars lost to Miami on Saturday and saw a double digit lead slip away against St. Louis to close out the weekend.
We have reaction to both games, including how PC was beaten on the interior against Miami, before falling in the final minute against St. Louis. Following the loss to St. Louis, Ed Cooley pointed to grit, will, energy, and effort on multiple occasions in his postgame press conference.
If you missed any of the action from this weekend, there are quick highlight reels of both the Miami and St. Louis games.
Providence is now 3-2 on the season, and will look to get right against Merrimack at home on Wednesday night.
This week’s News and Notes column looks into how Bryce Hopkins has been impressive through five games — and seems to have another level he can take his game. The article also touches on the results of the Gavitt Games, the inconsistency with which Providence’s backcourt has shot from deep, a quick start for Friar signee Drew Fielder, and more.
Finally, we are very excited to release the first episode of our podcast series on the 2013-14 Big East Tournament Champion Friars. This series is hosted on The Friar Podcast, and in the opening episode we hear from Cooley, Bryce Cotton, Kadeem Batts, LaDontae Henton, Carson Desrosiers, and Ted Bancroft on the transition from Keno Davis to Cooley, players’ journeys to PC, the feeling heading into that season, and much more. This podcast runs about 75 minutes and will lead into the start of the 2013-14 season. We hope you’ll give it a listen!

Bynum defintely looked a little tired maybe to much on his plate playmaking, looking & working for his own shot plus covering an elite point guard Collins. He needs to play off the ball more an using Breed & or Pierre for short periods would defintely help Bynum
