The Friar Podcast Sits Down with Providence Head Coach Kim English and Athletic Director Steve Napolillo
After practice on Wednesday, Billy Ricci and I were fortunate enough to sit down with Providence head coach Kim English and Athletic Director Steve Napolillo to talk about a number of topics surrounding the program.
In this interview you’ll hear Napolillo talk about the growth of the program, why he knew English was the right man for the job almost immediately upon meeting him, the current state of NIL at Providence, and more. English shares insight into how his passion about basketball turned him into the leader that he is today, as well his thoughts on some of the players on the 2023-24 Friars, the unique qualities of his staff, PC’s upcoming trip to Spain, and much more.
The audio of this podcast will also be available on all of The Friar Podcast platforms.
We hope you enjoy this conversation. Please feel free to share it with any Friar fans you think would enjoy it!
More from Friar Basketball:
Ryan Gomes was an NBA 2nd Team All Rookie member for the Boston Celtics. We have highlights from that season, and it’s a lot of fun to go back and hear the likes of Mike Gorman, Tom Heinsohn, Mike Breen, and Marv Albert call his games against the likes of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Lebron James, and more.
We also have highlights from when Daquan Davis took home the WCAC title against a Paul VI team that was ranked among the top five in the nation last spring.
Finally, subscribers to Friar Basketball can enjoy our News and Notes column this week, which details how English’s George Mason team fared against Richmond, South Dakota State, and Kansas in 2021-22 (ironically, all three of Providence’s NCAA Tournament opponents that year), as well as notes on Davonte “Ticket” Gaines’ very good performance against Kansas, Garwey Dual getting national attention, and more.
Thanks, as always, for reading Friar Basketball and listening to The Friar Podcast.
